Director of Sourcing

Central to their ongoing strength and success is an unmatched commitment to product quality and exceptional customer service across all channels. Part of their ongoing investment has led to the creation of this new Director of Sourcing position and in this role, you will further develop and lead the overall sourcing strategy for each brand and product category.

You will direct the sourcing strategy, applying continual assessment processes to ensure the suitability of the supply chain in respect of all commercial requirements, as well as seeking out and project managing opportunities to improve our supply base.

You will be responsible for handling the company’s end to end sourcing operations, overseeing the team in buying and production planning in the management of their production programs to ensure all order fulfilment requirements are achieved.

Team leadership and management will be key to this role, and you will ensure the team are facilitated to fulfil their responsibilities whilst continually developing their capabilities. Setting a clear direction, ensuring alignment across the team, providing the individual support needed, and empowering all in the team to work to the best of their abilities.

Responsibilities

Proactively seek out opportunities to improve the supply base in line with company objectives.

Manage the end-to-end process of identification and onboarding of new partners from initial assessment to final sign off of all commercial aspects of quality, price, minimum order quantities, trading terms, social and ethical requirements.

Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and performance management of existing production partners, ensuring compliance and on-time delivery.

Collaborate with Sales, Brand, and Finance Teams to align sourcing activities with overall business goals.

Direct the company’s technical resource to ensure quality standard requirements are achieved. Managing the company’s employed and contracted resource, liaising closely with off-site colleagues to effectively facilitate each’s individual role in the delivery of quality standard requirements.

Lead the team of production planners and buyers in the management of seasonal production programs, ensuring all order fulfilment requirements are achieved.

Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.

Estimate risks and apply risk minimising techniques.

Stay abreast of supplier innovations and global trends. 

 

Experience

An excellent track record in global sourcing, procurement and production in international garment manufacturing.

End-to-end supply chain optimisation.

Financial Acumen ensuring strong control over cost of purchasing and cost of product sold.

Demonstrated knowledge and application of strategic sourcing concepts.

 

Douglas & Grahame are based in Northern Ireland, so if you are currently based outside NI, there will be the need for some travel to their Head Office, as well as international travel to visit existing and potential new suppliers.
